November 6 Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony To Feature Many Area Leaders
OAKDALE, NY * Labor leaders and lawmakers throughout Long
Island and New York State will celebrate the opening of the
Center For Labor Management Relations & Dispute Resolution
at Dowling College at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a new facility
at 145 Pinelawn Road, Suite 350 S, Melville, New York, on
Thursday, November 6 at 11 a.m.
"I am pleased to announce the founding of this Center,
which is embraced by the labor and management communities
of Long Island," stated Dr. Albert E. Donor, President
of Dowling College. "With the assistance of Jack Caffey,
President of the Long Island Federation of Labor, and the
work done by Dr. John F. DeGregorio, former Regional Director
for the New York State United Teachers, we are able to provide
continuing education to the Long Island community in the field
of labor studies, with specific programs for both labor and
management in the workplace."
Numerous courses are offered at the Center in such subjects
as mediation, labor contracts, negotiations, human resources,
employee benefits issues, and workforce management, taught
by Dowling College-approved instructors, who are experienced
labor relations professionals.
Dr. Thomas J. Germano will serve as Director of Operations
for the Center, which will be managed under the Dowling Institute,
a leading provider of corporate training. He is a well-known
arbitrator and the former Long Island District Director for
the Cornell University Industrial and Labor Relations School.
The Center will work with both the public and private sectors
through its main office in Oakdale, and satellite facilities
in Melville, Brookhaven, and New York City.
"Providing quality instruction in labor relations management
and dispute resolution at a convenient location to residents
of Nassau and Suffolk counties is important to the businesses
and overall economy of the region," said Dr. Germano.
For more information on the Center, please contact Dr. Germano
