KAZAN TEACHES MASTER CLASS IN ACTING AT HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY

Lainie
Kazan, currently starring in the runaway hit, My Big Fat Greek Wedding,
is teaching a Master Class in Acting at Hofstra University's College
for Continuing Education from January 6-16, 2003. Ms. Kazan is a
Hofstra alumna who wants to teach acting where she started. Students

Hofstra University
proudly presents an opportunity to study with Lainie Kazan, whose
prolific career spans film, stage and television. Actress and singer
Lainie Kazan conducts a master class, utilizing Lee Strasberg's
Acting Method and exercises, including scene study and audition
techniques. The business aspects of acting, such as agents, managers
and publicity, are included to give students complete tools to become
a working actor. This class is a wonderful opportunity for actors,
drama teachers, drama therapists, college and graduate students,
performers, singers who want to act and for all those who are interested
in polishing their performance abilities. Class readings include
An Actor Prepares by Constantine Stanislavski and works by Lee Strasberg
and Sanford Meisner.
Ms. Kazan's
movies include My Favorite Year (for which she was nominated for
a Golden Globe Award), Beaches, The Crew, The Big Hit, What's Cooking,
One from the Heart, The Cemetery Club, The Associate and Delta Force.
In May 2002, she appears in Gigli with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez,
and Christopher Walken. Ms. Kazan has a recurring television role
on Will and Grace, and appeared regularly on The Nanny and Veronica's
Closet. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for her performance
on St. Elsewhere. As well, she has sung on stage, in nightclubs,
in concerts with the Boston and Cleveland Pops and has two CD jazz
collections, In The Groove, and Body and Soul. Ms. Kazan received
a Tony Award nomination for her reprisal of her original role in
the musical version of My Favorite Year at Lincoln Center. Her stage
credits include producer and star in various productions, including
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Orpheus Descending, Doin' What
Comes Natur'lly, The Vagina Monologues, A Little Night Music, Gypsy
and Hello Dolly. Ms. Kazan is an adjunct faculty member at NYU Tisch
School of the Arts, and has taught master classes at UCLA, Brooklyn
College and Broward University, Florida.
