Get to know other women business owners and become a member
at the opening meeting of the Long Island Chapter of National
Association of Women Business Owners on Wednesday, September
8, 2004. This networking dinner event, sponsored by Citigroup,
will be highlighted by a special membership recognition ceremony
that will begin at 6:00 p.m. NAWBO/LI’s new meeting
location will be the Melville Marriott, on the northwest corner
of the L.I.E. at Route 110 in Huntington.
“Our members always talk about meeting women from
different sized businesses,” said NAWBO/LI President
Anne Shybunko-Moore. “So, we decided that our first
meeting should provide an opportunity to socialize with other
members, encourage inactive members to attend, and combine
a recognition ceremony at the same time. Current members will
receive a newly designed NAWBO logo pin and we hope some charter
and long-term participants in the group will be on hand, too.”
In addition, the group also relocated to the Melville Marriott
for the 2004/2005 season. This meeting venue is more centrally
situated to attract new members and increase participation.
The location off the north service road of the L.I.E. also
makes its access easier for the dinner and breakfast meetings
the group has planned.
“Our chapter of NAWBO was founded and chartered in
1986 by a group of progressive women entrepreneurs,”
continued Shybunko-Moore. “There was a need then and
it continues today to support the growth of women business
owners in Nassau and Suffolk. After all, we’re the fastest
growing segment of new businesses in the country today.”
The monthly dinner meetings typically run from 6:00 p.m.
to 9:00 p.m. and include a cash bar, free soda/juice and dinner.
Members are $38 pre-registered and $42 at the door. Non-members
are $45 pre-registered or $50 at the door. Major credit cards
are accepted.
