Men of Long Island Presents 28th Annual Awards Dinner
The 100 Black
Men of Long Island will present their 28th Annual Awards Dinner
Dance in the Grand Ballroom of the Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury
on Saturday, March 22, 2003.
The elegant
evening will include a sumptuous cocktail hour, full course dinner
and dancing from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM.
The distinguished
Honorees are Professor Sylvester Wise, a civil rights veteran who
teaches in the African-American Studies Program at Nassau Community
College; Dr. Parveen Chopra, Commissioner of the Commission on Human
Rights of Nassau County also involved in a myriad of civic affairs;
Keith Cooke, Vice President, Fleet Bank active in economic development
on Long Island and, uniquely, three brothers, Julius Brown, Principal
of Lawrence Road Middle School, Uniondale; James Brown, retired
Principal of Dowd Junior High School, Freeport and Manny Brown,
District Manager for Coca-Cola Long Island.
There is the
traditional selection of the "Man of the Year"" from
the 100 Black Men membership which is never known until the award
is made. Who will that be?
Incorporated
in 1974, 100 Black Men of Long Island is now one of some 95 chapters
of 100 Black Men of America. This chapter is the second oldest chapter
in the nation. All chapters support mentoring, education, economic
development and health & wellness.
