FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COMMUNITY AND COLLEGE COLLABORATING ON TECHNOLOGY

April 15, 2003 Contact: Clifford Hymowitz 631-716-0464

With the support of Dean Yacov A. Shamash, the man responsible for bringing the NYS Center of Excellence in Wireless Internet & Information Technology to Stony Brook University, the Suffolk Community Council will sponsor their first Annual Technology Expo to help nonprofit organizations make more effective use of technology in order to advance their missions. The Expo will be held on May 14, 2003 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Student Activities Auditorium at SUNY Stony Brook. The Expo designed to bring together the people who provide technology services with members of the nonprofit sector who use technology, will also create opportunities to identify and share resources while offering professional support network opportunities to work collaboratively on a wide range of projects.

Exhibitors will be making short presentations on a myriad of technology issues. The Tech Expo is an opportunity for the person responsible for managing technology, or any staff person who may benefit by learning how their organization could benefit by using technology, to come and learn about the technology resources that are available. This way they can understand and decide the specific technology needs of their organization.

Pre Registration for members of the Suffolk Community Council is $25 and $30 at the door with a discount available for 3 people attending from one agency at $60 or 4 for $75. For all others the Pre Registration cost is $30 and $35 at the door with a discount available for 3 people attending from one agency at $90 or 4 for $115. The entry fee covers parking in the Administration garage (save your ticket for validation), and a continental breakfast. Participants will also receive a program booklet containing contact information on all the presenters, along with available funding resources that can benefit nonprofit organizations.
