Dan Rather to Keynote FOLIO Awards

Bethpage, N.Y. - The Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting’s FOLIO Awards, honoring excellence in local news coverage, will feature a keynote address by CBS News’ Dan Rather.

“In addition to being one of the best-known names in the news business, Dan Rather brings with him the unique perspective of someone who has witnessed current events chart the course of history for the past 40 years,” said Jaci Clement, executive director of the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting. “This is an exclusive opportunity for our community, and it is a privilege to bring him to Long Island.”

For more than two decades, the Coalition has honored media with FOLIO Awards as a way to encourage quality news reporting of local issues. Previous FOLIO Award keynoters include Al Roker, Tom Brokaw, Sam Donaldson, Tim Russert, Peter Jennings, Charles Osgood and Liz Claman. Rather currently serves as anchor and managing editor of the ‘CBS Evening News’ and as a correspondent for ‘60 Minutes II.’
The Coalition’s annual FOLIO Awards Luncheon, which also features New York area television anchors as award presenters, will be held on April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island. More than 800 business, community and media leaders are expected to attend. Sponsorships, souvenir journal advertising and tickets are available, but selling fast. Call 516-224-1860, ext. 102 for information.
The Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting advocates for quality local news coverage to maintain high quality of life standards for living and working in the region.
