Lucy
Rosen, founder and president of The Business Development Group,
Inc., has been selected by the Women Presidents’ Organization
to serve as the Facilitator of the group’s Long Island
Chapter. As Chapter Facilitator, Rosen will manage the program
and lead group discussions, direct member activities and help
build the organization’s presence and visibility on
Long Island.
Rosen founded The Business Development Group, Inc. in 1986,
and has grown her company to be one of Long Island’s
leading full-service marketing, public relations and business
development firms. As a successful entrepreneur with more
than 20 years of marketing and business experience, Rosen
has helped a wide variety of entrepreneurs, corporations and
not-for-profit organizations grow and expand their businesses.
Her clients have included major pharmaceutical companies,
free-standing medical centers, hospitals and numerous not-for-profit
organizations around the country. She also has a great deal
of experience in business-to-business marketing, and works
with leading businesses nationwide to orchestrate unique marketing
and public relations campaigns and spearhead effective business
image enhancement programs.
“Lucy brings a great amount of professional and personal
experience to WPO, and will be a valuable resource for our
Long Island membership,” says Marsha Firestone, president
and founder of WPO. “Our groups focus on current business
issues and cutting-edge business trends, and Lucy will provide
a good sounding board and source for professional advice as
our members deal with today’s existing and emerging
issues for women presidents throughout many different industries.”
Headquartered in New York City with more than 25 chapters
nationwide, the Women Presidents’ Organization has thousands
of members across the country. The nonprofit organization
was created with the mission of improving business conditions
for women entrepreneurs and to serve as a peer support group
for women presidents to help them grow and advance their businesses.
WPO is comprised of the diverse group of women presidents
nationwide who have guided their businesses to at least $2
million in gross annual sales, or $1 million for a service-based
business.
An active member of the Long Island business community, Rosen
was named for the second consecutive year as one of Long Island’s
“Top 50 Women” by Long Island Business News in
2003 -- given in recognition of the year’s 50 most influential
women on L.I. In 1999, Long Island Business News named her
to their inaugural “40 Under 40” class, recognizing
the region’s most successful young professionals under
age 40. She has been a mentor and member of the United States
Small Business Administration advisory services department
for women in business program, and has taught for the American
Women’s Economic Development Corporation. She is also
a developing member of the New York City Comptroller Department
of Economic Development Task Force for Women and served on
the Board of Directors of the New York City chapter of the
National Association of Women Business Owners.
The Long Island Chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization
meets once a month at a Long Island business. For additional
