VIBS to Offer Services to Families Affected by Domestic Violence and Child Abuse

Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) has received a grant from the
Van Ameringen Foundation to provide services to families affected by both
domestic violence and child abuse. This grant will complement a grant from
the New York State Office of Children and Family Services for VIBS to work
in partnership with Child Protective Services. Many experts agree that a
large percentage of the families experiencing partner abuse also deal with
child abuse.

VIBS is a private, non-profit community based agency that exists to assist
survivors of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault; to prevent the
incidence of these crimes through education and services; and to raise
community awareness of the need for justice and compassion for victims.
Services include: individual and group counseling, legal advocacy,
education, volunteer programs and batterer's intervention services. VIBS
offers programs for adults, adolescents, the elderly, and children aged 3
and up. Contact the 24-hour hotline at (631) 360-3606.
